Swiss citizen arrested for espionage commits suicide in Semnan prison

Akbari, Chief Justice of Semnan Province, stated: This morning a Swiss citizen committed suicide in the place of detention in Semnan prison.

He stated: This Swiss citizen was arrested by security agencies for espionage and there are documents and evidence regarding this matter and his case was being reviewed and processed.

The Chief Justice of Semnan Province said: This Swiss citizen was being held in a suite with another prisoner in Semnan prison, and this morning he asked his cellmate to provide him with food from the prison buffet.

He continued: "This prisoner took advantage of the time he was left alone in the cell and committed suicide."

The Chief Justice of Semnan Province added: "Prison officials immediately took action to save this person, but efforts to save him were unsuccessful."

Akbari said: "All evidence and documents from the place where this person is being held have been reviewed, and according to the documents, it is clear that he committed suicide."
