Explaining the crimes of the Monafeghin in martyring civilians
The 26th court session to hear the charges against 104 members of Monafeghin Terrorist Group and was held in public on Tuesday in Branch 11 of the Criminal Court of a province in Tehran, presided over by Amirreza Dehghani and court advisors Morteza Turk and Amin Nasseri, in the presence of a minister representing the prosecutor, the families of the martyrs and their lawyers, as well as the lawyers of the defendants in the Imam Khomeini Judicial Complex.
At the beginning of the court session, Judge Dehghani asked the plaintiff's lawyer to take the stand and present his case.
Kazemi, the plaintiff's lawyer, stated on the stand: "In the last court session, we discussed the engineering operations by the Monafeghin, which included the torture and martyrdom of a number of citizens and civilians. Today, I will make some remarks about the other two martyrs, "Shahrukh Tahmasbi" and "Khosro Riahi Nazari," who were martyred in this regard and during the engineering operations."
He added: "Regarding the martyrdom of "Shahrukh Tahmasbi," the story goes like this: In August 1982, a special operations team from the organization's engineering operations department, under the orders of the headquarters, disguised as an agent of the Islamic Revolutionary Committee, identified a member of the Islamic Revolutionary Committee's Guards named Shahrukh Tahmasbi, and after tying his hands, feet, and eyes, they took him to a team house for torture and interrogation located on Sohrevardi Street. The above-mentioned team house was prepared by a man and a woman who were members of the Monafeghin under the guise of family, and when the person in question was transferred there, the landlord became suspicious of the movements and reported the matter to the prosecutor's office by phone.
The plaintiff's lawyer continued: "When the torture agents and the organization's guards realized this, they immediately removed the person in question from the house and transferred him to another team house on Khajeh Nezam-ol-Molk Street, and subjected him to the most severe torture and crimes for 10 days, and on the last day he was martyred. Then, they packed him in a cardboard box and took him to the Abbasabad hills, where they burned his body and buried him.
He said: Regarding the martyrdom of "Khosro Riahi Nazari" on August 9, 1982, the story is as follows: he was a teacher and, according to a weekly schedule, he would take his children to the swimming pool on Eskandari Street in Tehran for swimming lessons. Since his stop was within the confines of one of the team houses belonging to the organization's engineering department, two members of the organization's terrorist team became suspicious of the aforementioned person's presence there and, disguised as an Islamic Revolutionary Committee agent, took him to their team house and after severe torture, they attempted to martyr him. Then, they wrapped the victim's body in a blanket and plastic rope and took him out of the team house by two of the aforementioned terrorists to an unfinished building on Zahedan Street, abandoned the body, and fled.
Kazemi, the plaintiff's lawyer, further requested that Akbar Kabiri, a member of the then-Islamic Revolutionary Guards Committee, appear on the stand as a witness and informant regarding the engineering operation and the martyrdom of Taleb Taheri, Mohsen Mirjalili and Shahrokh Tahmasbi, and provide explanations in this regard.
Akbar Kabiri, one of the witnesses in this trial, took the stand after taking the oath and said: "At that time, when the Monafeghin always considered a house for their leaders, they would consider a small house near that house and take care of their leaders and officials. This house was no exception to this, and there was a smaller team house at the end of the same alley that was responsible for protecting and taking care of Abrishamchi's house." Martyrs Taheri and Mirjalili spoke on the radio in front of this shelter, and the members of the Monafeghin realized that these two young men were members of the committee. After that, the Monafeghin Terrorist Group decided to kidnap Martyrs Taheri and Mirjalili. A businessman who had a grocery store nearby witnessed the kidnapping of our forces.
He added: "A few days had passed since the disappearance of Martyrs Taleb Taheri and Mirjalili, and we were very worried about them. Their families had called us several times and asked about their well-being. It was the night of Eid al-Ghadir when I was about to leave Evin when I learned that a person had been arrested by the committee and transferred to Evin. We were also committed to obtaining initial information from a suspect as soon as he was transferred, especially when he had colt and cyanide, so I returned again and began interrogating this person. This person's name was Khosrow Zandi, and his head and face had been injured during a fight.
Kabiri also said: According to the interrogations we conducted of him, which lasted about 3 hours, he gave us his home address. His team house was in the Nezamabad neighborhood. We went with him to the place he had announced and found a Colt and some grenades in his house. Based on the interrogations of Khosrow Zandi, it seems that he was assigned to assassinate one of the committee's forces on Shokoufe Street. While stealing a motorbike to carry out this operation, he was injured by the motorbike owner and was arrested and handed over to the police.
He noted: We also discovered a number of report sheets from Khosrow Zandi's house, which were related to reporting his actions to higher authorities. Khosrow Zandi had complained to his higher authority that we buried the two bodies that you gave me for burial in an area that was full of garbage. There were many dogs in this area and the area was unsafe. Sadeghieh Square and the northern part of this square were deserted at that time, and construction debris was left there. The bodies of martyrs Taheri and Mir Jalili were taken from Bahar Street by Khosrow Zandi and buried in this place. According to a report that Khosrow Zandi had given to his superiors, when the bodies of these martyrs were being thrown into the pit for burial, one of them made a sound. Khosrow Zandi had also complained that if this wounded man, who was alive at the time of burial, had made noise in the trunk of my car, I might have been arrested by the committee patrols.
Kabiri said: The next morning, I reported the matter to Martyr Lajavardi, and he immediately came with the media and public relations forces, and we went to the burial site of the martyrs. After examining the site, we came across three martyrs' bodies wrapped in blankets, and it had been about 48 hours since these martyrs were buried in this place.
Akbar Kabiri, the then head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Committee, stated: There is a video of the discovery of the bodies of these three martyrs at the place that Khosrow Zandi announced, and an interview with Khosrow Zandi. From the clothes and height of Mirjalili and Taheri, I guessed that these two were from our guards, and the next person was Shahrukh Tahmasbi.
