Araghchi: It must be proven that the policy of pressure is ineffective

Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi said that a full-scale war has its own language and tone, and the country's foreign policy entered this arena due to war conditions. We pursue comprehensive interaction and consider the effectiveness of the policy.
Araghchi stated: I was trained as a diplomat to think nationally and I will move in this direction. Wherever I think the country's national interests are met, I will go and do my duty. Whether it is in New York, Kabul or Beirut.
He also emphasized: If we enter into negotiations in a situation where the other side is imposing maximum pressure, we will have entered into negotiations from a low position and we will not achieve anything. This is not a matter of stubbornness or idealism, but a matter of expertise. It must be proven to the other side that the pressure policy is ineffective so that we can sit at the negotiating table on equal terms.
Stating that our strategy of patience is not based on passive patience, but patience with initiative, the Foreign Minister noted: We do not have a passive policy at all to sit and see what decision they make for us; no, we even have a plan regarding possible nuclear negotiations. Negotiations are taking place indirectly. The channel of three European countries is established; we are cooperating with Grossi and the nuclear agency, and there is a new idea for resolving the issues that we are examining.
In another part, he said: The Europeans played a good intermediary role in the last round, and they can play it now. We are continuing these negotiations with the Europeans, and in parallel, close consultations with Russia and China are continuing. But ultimately, the United States must lift the sanctions; We will enter into direct negotiations when we are on an equal footing, free from pressure and threats, and we are confident that the national interests of the people will be met.
Seyyed Abbas Araghchi said: Countries that were not willing to talk to each other directly spoke indirectly; therefore, indirect negotiations are possible. It is not that it is impossible, and this model is not very objectionable. What is important is that the will to negotiate and reach a fair and just agreement occurs under equal conditions, and its form is no longer important.
