Takht-Ravanchi: If the U.S. sets aside threats, there’s a good opportunity to reach an agreement

Majid Takht-Ravanchi, Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs, who was in Serbia for the third round of political consultations, spoke at the Belgrade Institute of International Politics and Economics. The event, themed “Foreign Policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran: Exploring Challenges and Opportunities; Analyzing the Role of the Balkans and West Asia in Establishing Regional and International Peace and Stability,” was attended by a group of ambassadors, diplomats, and scholars.
During the session, Takht-Ravanchi highlighted the government’s approach to the nuclear issue, stating, “The Islamic Republic of Iran, as in the past and in line with its policy of engagement, is ready to negotiate regarding its peaceful nuclear program and has held talks with China, Russia, and the three European countries over the past few months.”
Referring to indirect nuclear talks between Iran and the U.S. in Muscat, he said, “If the American side avoids raising unrelated issues and demands and sets aside threats and intimidation, there is a good opportunity to reach an agreement. The Islamic Republic of Iran believes in dialogue and engagement based on mutual respect, and any form of bullying or coercion is unacceptable to us.”
In another part of his speech, Takht-Ravanchi emphasized Iran’s principled policy of fostering the best relations with its neighbors, stating, “Dialogue and engagement are the most important strategies for resolving regional issues.”
