Chief Justice elected as President of the SCO Heads of Judicial Systems Forum for 2026
Kazem Gharib Abadi, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Legal and International Affairs, shared details in a post on the social media platform X about the consultations of the Chief Justice of Iran, during the 20th Meeting of Heads of Judicial Systems of SCO member states.
Gharib Abadi wrote: "I accompanied the esteemed Chief Justice at the 20th Meeting of Heads of Judicial Systems of SCO member states in Hangzhou, China. Mohseni Ejei, within the framework of judicial diplomacy, held meetings with the heads of delegations from eight countries—China, India, Pakistan, Turkey, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan—and discussed the development and strengthening of judicial cooperation."
The Deputy Minister added: "In his speech at the meeting, the esteemed Chief Justice presented several practical proposals, including the establishment of a judicial information-sharing platform to expedite the prosecution of criminals, harmonization of laws to combat terrorism, development of judicial diplomacy in the area of cybercrimes, reduction of commercial disputes through the establishment of an international arbitration center, combating human trafficking and supporting victims, creating a joint database on human trafficking groups and providing rehabilitation programs for victims, addressing cross-border environmental crimes, exchanging experiences in the smartization of judicial systems to enhance trial efficiency, establishing an SCO legal education and research center, forming a joint legal network to combat transnational crimes, holding training courses on human rights and promoting social justice, enhancing transparency in the fight against corruption, facilitating investment and strengthening economic security, and contributing to global food security and health."
Gharib Abadi further noted: "At the conclusion of the meeting, Iran’s Chief Justice was unanimously elected as the President of the Forum of Heads of Judicial Systems of the SCO for 2026, and it was decided that the 21st Meeting will be held in Tehran."
