Despite Trump's refusal to attend a press conference, the three met in Paris last week to discuss the Ukraine crisis.
Trump asserted following the meeting that Ukraine was "willing to make a deal" to put an end to the war with Russia. Zelensky, however, rejected any territorial concessions and insisted that Kiev first receive unwavering security guarantees.
During a 35-minute conversation without advisors, Trump "was friendly, respectful, and frank and seemed to be in a listening mood," according to a Reuters source. Additionally, according to a number of sources, the president-elect seemed to be attempting to establish a personal connection with his counterparts.
