Warning of disaster at Indonesian hospital in Gaza
60 patients in an Indonesian hospital in northern Gaza may perish from a shortage of food and water, the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza told Al Jazeera.
According to the ministry's statement, the hospital's humanitarian situation has gotten very dangerous because the injured are unable to obtain necessities, which makes their suffering in the harsh conditions enforced by the Israeli military even worse.
Since early October, the Israeli army has been laying siege to the Indonesian hospital in northern Gaza's Beit Lahia. The humanitarian crisis in the region has worsened in recent months due to Israel's blockade of northern Gaza; experts and international aid organizations have repeatedly warned of a regional catastrophe.
In a meeting held behind closed doors in New York on Tuesday, December 10, UN Security Council members heard a report on the situation in Gaza from Sigrid Kaag, the UN humanitarian coordinator for Gaza.
"The situation in the Gaza Strip is a very, very dark picture; I spoke of the inhumane conditions in which civilians are trying to survive," she told reporters after the briefing.
The Israeli regime has routinely bombed, besieged, detained, and attacked hospitals in the Gaza Strip, particularly those in the northern regions, since the war began in October 2023.
The Israeli army has repeatedly used Palestinian patients as human shields, according to Euromed. The Israeli army in northern Gaza has also targeted the Indonesian hospital, which was bombed last Thursday.
