Trump unveils plan to crack down on immigrants
During his four-year term, US President-elect Donald Trump plans to deport all illegal immigrants from the country, according to a recent NBC interview.
Additionally, Trump stated that he plans to end birthright citizenship—which confers citizenship on anyone born in the United States regardless of the immigration status of their parents—by executive action on his first day in office.
The World Socialist Web Site wrote: The interview, conducted by NBC’s Kristen Welker, highlighted the American media’s efforts to normalize the fascist agenda.
Asked directly whether he would deport all 11 million illegal immigrants (the current estimated total) during his four-year term, Trump said, “I think it should be done, but it’s hard to do.”
Trump didn't address the plight of the millions of people facing deportation; he just discussed the size of the necessary police and military deployment.
Trump has threatened to deport millions of American citizens and their children who are undocumented immigrants. In response to a question concerning the estimated 4 million families with undocumented children born in the US, Trump cynically stated that while they have a choice, the children will have to leave the country with their parents if they wish to remain with them.
The president-elect declared that he would issue an executive order terminating the birthright citizenship of children born in the United States to undocumented immigrants. While such an executive order would violate the U.S. Constitution, Trump declared, “We have to change it; we have to end it. We are the only country that has this law.
The US Constitution's 14th Amendment, one of three ratified as a result of the American Civil War between 1861 and 1865, would be repealed if this law were repealed. The goal of the amendment was to permanently bar states that condoned slavery from refusing emancipated slaves’ citizenship.
The attempt to thwart the US Constitution's 14th Amendment's implementation, according to the World Socialist Web Site, is a return to anti-egalitarian ideals in the US.
Trump used divisive falsehoods about immigrants to defend this assault on democracy. He said that 13,000 murderous immigrants were released onto the streets under the Joe Biden administration, and that immigrants were flooding the US border from jails and mental hospitals.
