Iran’s Nuclear Program Being Monitored by IAEA
In response to questions from reporters regarding IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi's recent remarks that Iran has improved its uranium enrichment capabilities, Baqaei said that the UN nuclear chief's comments highlighted the "confrontational and unconstructive" action taken by the US and the European troika at the IAEA Board of Governors, which introduced and approved a resolution against Iran without any legal or logical basis.
"Mr. Grossi had come to Iran with initiatives, but it was the three European countries and the US that rendered the (IAEA) secretary general's efforts futile by pursuing the policy of pressure and abuse of the Board of Governors," the spokesman said, referring to Grossi's most recent visit to Iran, where Tehran and the IAEA agreed to strengthen technical cooperation.
Baqaei emphasized that Iran is clearly pursuing its peaceful nuclear program under the IAEA's surveillance, in accordance with the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons and the comprehensive safeguards agreement.
