Head of the Judiciary: We must all abide by the law
Hojatoleslam Wal Muslimin Mohseni Ejei visited the Tehran Azad University, Research Sciences Branch, on Saturday, Student Day, as part of his ongoing series of meetings with academic and elite communities. While touring the "Narrative of Transformation" exhibition, he engaged in a private meeting with students and heard their candid, inquisitive, and worried words directly from the source.
The Head of the Judiciary said, "It has always been a pleasure for me to hear the words of students, and I am committed to listening to these words and acting on them as much as possible," in his speech at this student meeting.
"You students are this nation's future officials and managers," said the head of the judiciary. If you have grievances against certain officials and managers now, take action to ensure that these complaints won't be made against you later on when you are a manager and a responsible individual.
"When you ask why the progress of the case of some defendants and big business owners cannot be reported to the media, I must say that in some cases, the law prohibits disclosing the case's progress before the verdict is finalized, and in some cases, the law prohibits reporting them to the media even after the verdict is finalized," he said.
Mr. Ejei said, we must all abide by the law; an individual or an institution cannot say that because I am against this law, I will not implement it. Of course, I emphasize again that if a law has flaws and problems, we must seek to correct it.
The head of the judiciary said: I have been emphasizing for years that all courts must be public, except for cases that the constitution has made exceptions for, but my opinion has not become law, and the government and parliament must take action to turn this opinion into law.
One of the distinguished students stated in his speech that occasionally legal complexities prevent justice from being fully implemented. Head of the judiciary acknowledged this statement and emphasized that I am working to amend the laws in a way that will fully realize social justice through them.
