US shows no mercy even to its allies
As expected, as January 20, 2025, the date of Trump's official presence at the top of Washington's political and executive equations, approaches, Elon Musk is gradually emerging from behind the scenes and is putting forward more explicit and, of course, more controversial positions in the field of his country's foreign and domestic policy. Members of Trump's party have expressed worries and even discontent over this matter. The primary query is: how much authority does Musk have in the Trump administration? Is he able to be regarded as a minister or a member of the Trump cabinet that makes significant decisions regarding American foreign and domestic policy?
Recently, Elon Musk has sparked a unique issue in the US foreign policy arena! His backing of the far-right "Alternative for Germany" party has drawn charges that the world's richest man is meddling in the election of the Europe's leading economy.
Elon Musk has endorsed the German far-right party on the social network X (formerly Twitter), which he now owns. He has described the party as the only party capable of "saving" Germany. Early parliamentary elections in Germany are scheduled for February 2025. The vote will take place following the fall of the coalition government of German Chancellor Olaf Schulz.
Most significantly, Mask's recent action demonstrates the true approach of the new US foreign policy team to the internal equations in Berlin, where the power cycle between the two Social Democrats and the Christian Democrats has lost its significance and value for Trump and his entourage, and instead, the weight of the racist and extremist current (Alternative for Germany) has increased. Mask's recent action is a concrete example of interventionism in the German national elections.
Elon Musk's endorsement was warmly received by Alice Weidel, the Alternative for Germany party's candidate for chancellor. In contrast, Elon Musk's "interference" in the German elections was denounced by the Christian Democratic Party of Germany, which is now dominating the polls. A party member referred to Elon Musk as a "threat to democracy."
In any event, it appears that Elon Musk will now take additional contentious stances toward interventionism in the domestic affairs of other nations, including America's European allies. The adventure is only getting started.
