Gharibabadi: Western countries only consider terrorism a threat to their interests and those of their allies
On Wednesday, January 1st, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Center for Political and International Studies to commemorate the martyrdom of Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani and the first anniversary of the terrorist incident in the Golzar Martyrs of Kerman. Foreign ambassadors, Mohammad Javad Hasheminejad, Secretary General of the Habilian Foundation, Iraj Masjedi, Deputy Coordinator of the IRGC Quds Force, and Kazem Gharibabadi, Deputy Director of International and Legal Affairs, were in attendance.
A photo exhibition of Western governments' support for anti-Iranian terrorist groups and the unveiling ceremony of the Encyclopedia of 23,000 Martyrs of the Country's Terror took place on the fringes of this meeting.
Iran is a victim of the terrorism
In his speech, Kazem Gharibabadi, Deputy Minister of Legal Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while honoring the memory of the martyrs of terror and martyr Soleimani, praised his effective role in combating terrorism at the regional level.
The Deputy Minister of Legal Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said: The fight against terrorism has been in the spotlight of the world, and Iran, as a rich country, has faced various challenges. Terrorism directly threatens the security and stability of societies.
He noted: Iran is not only a victim of terrorism, but also fights in a pioneering manner to combat this phenomenon at the global and regional levels. Western countries' support for terrorism has caused serious crises in the region; these countries consider terrorism only a threat to their interests and those of their allies; they shelter terrorists and have double standards towards terrorism; How can one see the pain and suffering of the people of Gaza and remain silent?
In another section, Gharibabadi said: It is disheartening that these nations have not only kept quiet about the atrocities committed by the Zionist regime, but also openly support it; the world is aware that these nations tolerate and support terrorists in their legislatures.
Referring to the conditions when the Middle East was on the verge of falling into the abyss of ISIS Takfiri terrorism, he said: Martyr Soleimani began the fight against terrorism regardless of any classification; Martyr Soleimani's struggle in the fight against terrorism will not be forgotten.
"Iran has been the target of all forms of terrorism for decades, from organized to blind assassinations; over 23,000 Iranian citizens have been victims of terrorism in the past four decades; the application of the West's double standards on the issue of terrorism applies to Iran; for example, the Monafeghin (Hypocrites) terrorist group has offices in Western countries and is financially and politically supported by Western countries; these countries have claimants of human rights and have used yesterday's perpetrators as the source of their human rights reports," the Deputy Legal Minister of Foreign Affairs also stated.
He emphasized: Iran considers fighting terrorism and protecting its citizens as an inherent duty and has put its capacities for implementing justice and effectively dealing with terrorism on its agenda; We are determined to hold accountable the perpetrators of terrorizing our citizens and we value the patience of the survivors of terror; Iran will not allow terrorists to roam in the safe haven of Western countries; We are working to prevent impunity for terrorism and welcome regional and international cooperation.
Stating that terrorism is a phenomenon that requires a collective and global response, Gharibabadi noted: The unveiling of the updated list of martyrs of terror of the Islamic Republic of Iran is a valuable opportunity to pay tribute to all martyrs of terror and their survivors.
He further emphasized: The martyrs of the fight against terrorism brought security and stability to the country and the region; The previous statistics of martyrs of terror were related to data from previous years, and with the research and documentation work of the Habilian Foundation and the support of the Martyr Foundation, the number of victims of terror has been recorded at 23,000; this figure includes martyrs of terrorist incidents that have occurred in recent years.
