Judiciary Spokesman: Iran is pursuing punishment of the evil elements of the Zionist regime using all its capabilities
The Judiciary Spokesperson said about the war crimes of the leaders of the evil and illegitimate Zionist regime and the follow-up to investigating these crimes: These crimes are being investigated within the framework of violating international obligations, including the Genocide Convention, and have always been on the agenda of Iranian diplomatic missions, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the International Affairs Office of the Judiciary, and the High Council for Human Rights. Iran has used all its capacities, including diplomatic and legal support, and support for NGOs, free-thinking lawyers, and independent jurists, to help and will help pursue this case in various ways. In this regard, in line with the follow-up I have made, the International Affairs Office of the Judiciary and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are consulting with like-minded countries so that they can quickly take action to arrest and punish these evil elements of the Zionist regime.
Regarding the latest steps taken by the judiciary to release Mohammad Reza Nouri, an Iranian citizen imprisoned in Iraq, the spokesman for the Judiciary said: "The point that everyone should pay attention to is that pursuing the rights of Iranian citizens anywhere in the world who are facing baseless accusations is our legal, humane, and religious duty, and it will be a priority issue pursued by both the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and officials of the Judiciary."
He stated: Regarding the release of Mr. Mohammad Reza Nouri, this issue has been pursued and emphasized in meetings held with the Iraqi delegation and in various negotiations held between the diplomatic and judicial delegations of Iran and Iraq, and recently, contacts have been made in the government regarding this matter.
Jahangir expressed hope that within the framework of the agreements we have and the series of agreements on the transfer of convicts and nationals of the two countries, we will be able to release Mr. Nouri, who has been detained on false and baseless charges by the US government, as soon as possible and return him to the Islamic homeland.
In response to a question regarding the outcome of the review of the pardon requests of Ms. Elahe Mohammadi and Niloufar Hamedi, he said: The aforementioned are not currently detained and are free. Ms. Elahe Mohammadi and Niloufar Hamedi have already been released from prison on bail and are currently outside prison.
The Judiciary Spokesperson continued: "After the Head of the Judiciary agreed to refer the case of these two individuals to the Amnesty and Pardon Commission, the matter was followed up in the Tehran Provincial Court and the aforementioned case was reviewed by the Provincial Amnesty Commission. Then, this case was sent to the Central Amnesty Commission with a favorable opinion and is currently under consideration by this commission. As soon as this case is investigated and a decision is made, the necessary information will be provided in this regard."
