Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemns attack on journalists' vehicle in Gaza
Ismail Baghaei, spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, strongly condemned the deliberate targeting of journalists' vehicle in front of Al-Awda Hospital in the Nuseirat camp, which resulted in the martyrdom of 5 journalists, as the latest example of a war crime by the Zionist regime.
Baghaei stressed that the occupying forces' attack on the journalists' vehicle is definitely a war crime, and the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court should add this new crime to the serious case file of crimes committed in occupied Palestine. He pointed out that journalists and media personnel working in conflict zones, along with their equipment, should be immune from any attack as civilian persons and objects based on international humanitarian law, particularly the Third Geneva Convention of 1949 and the Additional Protocols of 1977.
The Foreign Ministry spokesman referred to the martyrdom of over 200 media professionals during the 15-month genocide in Gaza and said that the occupying regime killed them in order to prevent the world from learning about the extent and gravity of the crimes against the Palestinian people.
He also warned that the severity of the ongoing violations of international humanitarian law in Gaza and the lack of a suitable response from capable international institutions to these violations have seriously undermined the foundation of norms related to the laws of war.
