Trump threatens to withdraw the US from NATO

US President-elect Donald Trump listed some of the changes he intends to implement once he takes office in a television interview.

 NATO has exploited us in trade; they don't take our cars, they don't take our food, they don't take anything, and it's a disgrace, he said in an interview with NBC, warning against the US leaving the alliance.

Additionally, we defend them, so it's a double whammy, Trump said.

"By being tough on them, I was able to spend hundreds of billions of dollars on NATO... I told countries I won't protect you unless you pay for it, and they started paying, and it was over $600 billion," the US president-elect went on.

When asked if he would continue to support the United States in NATO, he responded, "I will definitely stay in NATO if they pay their dues and treat us fairly, but if they don't pay their dues, I will "absolutely" consider leaving NATO."
