Amnesty International accuses Israel of genocide in Gaza
In a recent report, the human rights organization Amnesty International came to the conclusion that the Israeli war on Gaza is genocide. According to the report, Amnesty International's conclusion regarding Israel's genocide against Palestinians in Gaza is based on months of research, which included in-depth witness interviews, examination of digital and visual evidence, including satellite images, and statements from Israeli military and political officials.
According to the human rights organization, the Israeli army has engaged in at least three of the five crimes that the 1948 Genocide Convention forbids. These include killing civilians without cause, seriously injuring them physically or psychologically, and purposefully making life in Gaza difficult for Palestinians.
According to Agnes Callamard, the group's top official, "Israel has repeatedly treated the Palestinians in Gaza as if they were not worthy of human rights and dignity and has demonstrated its intent to physically destroy them." Callamard added: "Our investigation demonstrates that Israel has continued to commit acts of genocide for months and has been fully aware of the irreparable harm it is inflicting on the Palestinians in Gaza,".
In a different section, she said that Israel has persisted in these actions in spite of multiple warnings about the dire humanitarian situation and legally binding rulings from the International Court of Justice directing Israel to act immediately to provide humanitarian aid to Gaza's civilian population. Callamard said her team has discovered that the physical annihilation of the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip is the Zionist regime's goal.
The human rights group said in its report: “The Israeli military's claim that it is lawfully targeting Hamas members and other fighters stationed among the civilian population in Gaza is unverifiable. Israel is still required to take all reasonable steps to protect civilians and prevent indiscriminate or disproportionate assaults, even if Hamas fighters are present close to or inside a highly populated area”.
Amnesty International added that it had not discovered any proof to support the zioist regime's allegations that resistance organizations in Gaza were stealing humanitarian aid, which would have allowed the invaders to impose harsh and intentional limitations on the flow of life-saving aid into the regions affected by the conflict.
