Canada has also joined the group of western countries that, by revising their immigration policy, intend to prevent the entry of immigrants.

This anti-immigration policy has been introduced while this country has presented itself as a supporter of immigrants for years. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau stated that the time has come to review immigration policies, even though he acknowledged that his country benefits from the presence of new immigrants, including helping to revive the economy after the Corona epidemic.

The Canadian prime minister claims that in order to curb the rapid population growth in his nation, the new policy will significantly lower the rate of admittance of new immigrants over the next three years. Trudeau asserted that population control was the only way to guarantee his government could make significant investments in social services, housing, and public health.

According to a survey on public attitudes toward immigrants by the Environics Institute, most Canadians believe there are too many immigrants for the first time in 25 years. This study and survey indicate that 58% of Canadians oppose the immigration process's continuation.

In contrast, 44% of Canadians held this view just a year ago. According to data released by the Abacus Data Institute, half of Canadians think that immigration is negatively impacting the nation's economy.

According to earlier reports, Canada will deny entry to tourists and temporary residents and issue fewer visas; in fact, Ottawa will not even accept individuals who arrive at the country's borders with official documentation.

Of course, there are other nations with anti-immigration policies besides Canada. Over the past year, anti-immigration policies have accelerated as right-wing governments have taken power in numerous European nations. Some nations, such as Sweden, have stepped up their anti-immigration policies in an effort to keep immigrants away from their borders.

Some, like Germany and Austria, have started deporting groups of immigrants who are deemed undesirable or incompatible for a variety of reasons, while others, like the Netherlands, have ceased the immigration process. In recent years, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic have also refused to accept immigrants.

However, Italy has begun the process of holding and reviewing asylum seekers' files in a country outside the EU (Albania), making it the first EU member to do so. The previous British government also intended to enact this policy, but it was taken off the London agenda due to strong opposition and ultimately a change of government.
