The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has called on the French government to seriously pursue the murder of 2 Iranians during an armed attack in the north of the country.

Vahid Jalalzadeh, Deputy Consular Officer for Parliamentary and Iranian Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, expressed deep sorrow over the murder of 2 Iranian citizens during an armed attack suspected of being racially motivated in France. While offering condolences to the families and survivors of these two compatriots, he called for serious follow-up of the matter by the relevant security and judicial authorities in France and transparent information on the matter.

Referring to the follow-up carried out in this regard by the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Paris, Jalalzadeh said: As soon as the Iranian Embassy in France learned of the deaths of 2 Iranian citizens during this armed crime, it contacted the competent authorities of the French government to follow up on the matter and demanded the identification, trial, and punishment of the perpetrators of this crime. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also stressed, in contact with the French Embassy in Tehran, the need to conduct a full judicial investigation and criminal prosecution of the perpetrator or perpetrators of this crime in order to administer justice and pay the victims' blood money.

He stated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to pursue its duties and responsibilities in protecting the rights of Iranian citizens abroad with seriousness, and while facilitating the transfer of the bodies of the two deceased compatriots to Iran, it will follow up on the matter until all aspects are clarified and justice is served.

These two Iranian citizens were attacked with a firearm and killed on Saturday, December 14, 2024, during a terrorist act in L'Oise Plage near the city of Dunkirk in northern France by a person whose identity has not yet been announced despite being arrested by the police.
