Esmail Baghaei, the spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, attended a press conference and answered questions from domestic and foreign media reporters about the most important foreign policy developments in recent days.

At the beginning of the press conference, the Foreign Ministry spokesman announced the holding of a summit of the 8 member countries of the Economic Cooperation Organization in Egypt this week with the presence of the Foreign Minister and said: The summit of the organization’s leaders will be held with the presence of the President, and it is natural that various meetings and consultations will be held on the sidelines of this summit.

Developments in Syria

Regarding the future of Iran-Syria relations, Baghaei said: Reopening the embassy in Damascus requires preparations, the most important of which is ensuring the security of the embassy and its staff; as soon as the security and political preparations are in place, the embassy in Syria will be reopened.

He added: The Zionist regime's attacks on Syria are not a new issue, they have only intensified in the past 14 months; Iran, as a responsible country, uses every opportunity for global mobilization to stop the Zionist regime's aggressions, because the basic principles of the United Nations Charter are at risk.

Regarding Iran's violations in the developments in Syria, Baghaei also stated: It is not unnatural for countries to have their own narrative of the developments; in Doha, both in the Astana meeting and the 5+3 meeting, the issue of understanding was the necessity of stopping the conflicts in Syria in order to preserve the territorial integrity of this country; the recent developments in Syria confirm the aforementioned concerns; the efforts and concerns of the countries present in Doha were to prevent such a situation.

He noted: "Our presence in Syria was a fundamental and principled presence, and our departure was responsible; we sought to ensure the security of the Syrian people against violent extremism and at the invitation of the Syrian government; we believe that security and stability in the countries of the region are related and interconnected with security throughout the region."

Iran's nuclear activity

In another section, the Foreign Ministry spokesman said about the European Troika's statement and Iran's reaction: "No exact time has been set for the continuation of the Geneva talks; the European Troika's letter was not a new issue, and we announced our response to the Security Council and issued a statement to explain our positions."

He emphasized: "The inflammatory nature of the issue has been discussed, and the peaceful nature of our nuclear activity has been revealed; this stance has no effect on the continuation of our nuclear program; the politicized approach of pressure on Iran is ineffective."

Annual report of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, responded to Mizan News Agency about the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ annual report on human rights violations by the United States and the United Kingdom: This report was prepared based on a law that mandated the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to collect information and documentation annually on the human rights situation in some countries and publish a report on it; the report is in line with our help in promoting human rights and promoting human rights concepts internationally.

He added: Another goal of these reports is to show that human rights violations are widespread in some countries that consider themselves free from any mistakes or violations; there is an expectation that if human rights violations are to be addressed, violations in these countries will also be addressed.

Baghai noted: There is systematic and widespread violence in the United States, especially in the country’s police against racial minorities and black people; these countries have also committed gross violations of the human rights of other nations; The most obvious examples include destabilizing interventions in these countries, which have caused chaos, bloodshed, and illiteracy in these countries.

The future of Iran-US relations

In another section about the future of Iran-US relations, the spokesman for the diplomatic service said: We have not heard anything from the future US administration and we will not react to speculations from various parties about future approaches and we will make decisions at the appropriate time.

The 25-year Iran-China agreement

About Iran-China relations, Baghaei said: This is a continuous, stable and growing relationship in all fields and areas.

He noted: The 25-year agreement provides a basis for expanding relations between Iran and China.
