Chinese President Rejects Trump's Invitation
Chinese President Xi Jinping and other world leaders have been invited by US President-elect Donald Trump to attend his inauguration next month.
Without mentioning any particular individuals, Trump stated yesterday in New York that he is "thinking about inviting certain people to the inauguration."
Trump's comments were made right after Caroline Leavitt, the new White House spokesperson, confirmed in a statement that Trump had invited world leaders, including Xi Jinping, to his January inauguration.
No president has ever visited the United States for an inauguration ceremony, according to historical records from the U.S. State Department.
Meanwhile, Xi Jinping is not expected to visit Washington as a guest at Trump's inauguration, according to a CBS News report that cited two people with knowledge of the situation.
