Lebanese journalists, victims of American ammunition
According to the latest statistics, since the beginning of the Zionist regime’s war on Gaza on October 7, 2023, about 190 Palestinian journalists have been martyred; more than 10 journalists were also martyred in Lebanon.
The Guardian newspaper recently reported that the Zionist regime used American ammunition to target and martyr three journalists in Lebanon in the October 25 attack. Legal experts have described the attack as a possible war crime.
On October 25, the Israeli government launched a fighter jet attack on a media compound in southern Lebanon at 3:19 a.m. Three workers from the media organizations Al-Manar and Al-Mayadeen were killed, and three additional journalists in the area were hurt. Before the attack, there had reportedly been no active fighting in the area.
According to three experts in international humanitarian law, the attack might be a war crime, and more research is required. "All indications point to the deliberate targeting of journalists and a war crime, as this was clearly identified as the place where the journalists were staying," stated Nadim Houry, an executive director of the Arab Reform Initiative and a human rights lawyer.
Numerous investigations reveal that all of the journalists were civilians and that, in contrast to the Israeli army's assertions, there was no Hezbollah military infrastructure at the scene of the attack. Requests for clarification on the accusations, including whether the journalists were military personnel, were not answered by the Israeli military.
According to a former US military bomb disposal expert, ammunition remnants discovered at the site of the attack on the Lebanese journalists suggested that at least one of the weapons was a 500-pound MK-80 series bomb guided by a US-made JDAM.
Requests for comment regarding the Israeli use of Woodward and Boeing's products in the attack on the journalists in Lebanon were not answered. The Israeli regime's use of at least one precision-guided bomb indicates that the military had already designated the attack site as a target.
The Israeli use of US ammunition in the attack on the journalists comes at a time when, under US law, US military aid to a buyer of US weapons must be suspended if the weapons are used to commit war crimes.
American military assistance to the Israeli regime has persisted in spite of multiple indications that the Israeli regime is using American ammunition to potentially commit war crimes.
